چکیده

Abstract The process of metal additive manufacturing (AM) is now widely used in fabricating complex parts today’s industry. scope this paper to redesign a for aircraft components using wing ribs as example by considering embedded Internet Things (IoT) sensory capability that can be an Industry 4.0 ecosystem moving away from condition-based preventive maintenance system data-driven predictive maintenance-based system. This work based on previous study considered the part design stage which deals with finding best solution single part. Considering rib geometry 3-mm web thickness 6-mm upper and lower caps, designed assessed Simufact Additive™ software. use AM when embedding IoT sensors allows more flexibility without compromising structural integrity parts, well advantage freedom limited cost modifying geometries. outcomes show depends strongly hot isostatic pressing (HIP) rib, but covers it presented no significant improvement. results also support optimisation lead important reduction mass volume improvement performance.

Deformation Post-processing of Additive Manufacturing Components

Parts produced by additive manufacturing (AM) often require post processing to improve surface finish and mechanical properties. However, little attention has been given to including deformation in the post processing. Deformation post-processing can address some part size, manufacturing cost, and geometry limitations of 3D printing. Additionally, it could be used to create 3D surfaces using pl...

Rapid-Manufacturing-Process for Elastomeric Components

The Selective Laser Sintering Process of thermoplastics (SLS) enables the manufacturing of components with complex shape in a short time period without the manufacturing of a specific mold. However, this manufacturing process is limited by the restricted range of materials. In contrast to this primary shaping process, vacuum casting allows a quick, inexpensive and highly accurate process but it...

Laser Additive Manufacturing Process Planning and Automation

This paper presents a Laser Additive Manufacturing Process Planning (LAMPP) being developed at the University of Missouri-Rolla. The off-line planning recognizes difficult-to-build features from an STL file, selects optimal part orientation and building directions based on the skeleton information of the object geometry, and optimizes the sub-process sequences for deposition and machining. Duri...

Process planning for additive and subtractive manufacturing technologies

In recent years, techniques that combine different manufacturing processes such as additive and subtractive technologies are gaining significant attention. This is due to their ability to capitalise on consolidated advantages of combining these processes. However, there are limited process planning methods available to effectively synthesise additive and subtractive manufacturing technologies. ...
